Today is the first day of the year 2010 and my ‘Night Jasmine’ plant decided to give it’s first bloom as a gift. It’s beautiful fragrance is all over the garden, my apartment and probably many more apartments in the block and am surely enjoying it.
It reminds me of my childhood days and lead my mind to all the time i had spent pausing for a moment in front of the neighbors home just to take in a little more of the fragrance.
Here are some pics taken just the day before:
Had bought this plant sapling not so long ago (probably 4-5 month’s back) for Rs 20/- from a nursery on sarjapura road and it makes me very happy to see it grow and bloom like this.
Looking back at the last 8 month’s I feel it’s been very rewarding for me having taken up gardening as a hobby. I also hope to learn a lot more about gardening in the coming year and share them with you through my blog. Like before i hope to continue working towards achieving self sufficiency for my vegetable requirements.
I’ll try to grow various different kinds of vegetables and learn more about them.
Happy New Year and Happy Gardening to all of you!

Happy New Year… ~bangchik
Thanks bangchik and Wish you a very Happy New Year!
Raj,
I can virually sense the fragrance of Jasmine. I still remember days in our dad’s quarters all along my school days, we used to have such flower plants surrounding our home.
Thanks for new year wishes with Jasmine
A Very happy new year…
Happy 2010, Raj! AAhhh! I love Night Jasmine and it started blooming just few months ago after more than a year in Plantville (my small garden space)
Hi,
This is the parihjatham right. Nycanthes arobor tristis. I have a sapling and am trying to get it to grow and bear flowers in a pot. (Balcony garden). You think that will work. I keep clipping it to keep it short and small.
You can say this is my first attempt at bonsai.
My bad, Night Jasmine is Cestrum Nocturnum. That parijatham is a white petalled flower with an orange stem.
